The Darkest Night - Spotlight & Review

The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter  May/08 by HQN

(from back cover) "His Powers - Inhuman   His Passion - Beyond Immortal...

All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she''ll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member—a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger that calms their torments…and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction—and a soul-shattering test of love…."

The first novel in The Lords Of The Underworld series, The Darkest Night did not disappoint. Maddox, the host of the demon Violence, and Ashlyn are a great pairing. Suffering untold amounts of pain and trials to be together, they captured my attention and carried me into their world to experience it all as if I were in the stronghold with them! The cast of characters, world-building and premise behind this series involves  Greek Gods, Pandora's Box, Immortal Warriors, Curses, Demons, Hunters, Romance and a whole lot of action and danger. That's a mix to get me hooked and wanting more! Plus, I am Hungarian, so basing it in Budapest and having some Hungarian in the book was also pretty cool to me personally.

This book is the beginning of what promises to be an awesome series, right up there with JR Wards' Black Dagger Brotherhood books. I am happy to say that the first three books in the series, The Darkest Night, The Darkest Kiss and The Darkest Pleasure are all being released one month apart! May, June and July. Get ready to have your socks knocked off by Showalters sinfully sexy Lords Of The Underworld, I know I did! If Gena Showalter wasn't already on my auto-buy list, she would be just based on this book. Run and get it for yourself.
