Changeling - Spotlight & Review

Changeling by Yasmine Galenorn

  • Mass Market Paperback: 304 pages
  • Publisher: Berkley (MM); 1 edition (June 5, 2007)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0425216292
  • ISBN-13: 978-0425216293
  • ( From Website )

" Author warning: "Yes, I know they're labeled paranormal romance, but trust me, the series is urban fantasy--the publisher decides the category they're shelved under, not the author.  Yes, there are relationships in these books. Yes, they have explicit sex scenes.  But they are not primarily romances, so don't expect hero/heroine relationship focus, or HEA endings, and you won't be disappointed.  And no, I have never sat through an episode of Charmed and these books are not based in any way on that series--mythology abounds with triple goddess/sister archetypes."

    ....Yasmine Galenorn

Meet the D'Artigo Sisters-three half human, half-Faerie, wild and sexy members of the OIA-the Otherworld Intelligence Agency.  Camille, a witch, Delilah, a werecat, and Menolly, an acrobat extraordinaire turned vampire, are sent Earthside to keep them out of trouble by their superiors, but the girls find themselves smack in the middle of Demon-Central when Shadow Wing, the leader of the Subterranean Realms, decides to attempt a coup on both Earth and Otherworld.  Now, with their erratic powers, the sisters must use their collective talents to prevent the demons from taking over and to save two worlds, one monster at a time.

    Delilah:

"Someone's been slaughtering the Weres of the Rainier Puma Pride, and my sisters and I have been enlisted to investigate by Zachary Lyonnesse, golden boy of the werepumas. Right away we smelled demon trouble, and we tracked it directly into the snare of the Hunters Moon Clan, sworn enemies of Puma Pride. But there's more than Were rivalry at work. It's that old demon Shadow Wing who is setting a deadly snare for the pumas.  We have to find out why, which means a visit one to of the Immortals.  Unfortunately, for my sisters and me, our half-human blood is just enough to put us in mortal danger."

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In this second book of the Sisters of The Moon series, Changling, the story is told from Delilah's point of view. She's a P.I. and a werecat, only not the kind of werecat you'd expect. She turns into a golden tabby cat and at the most inconvenient times! I really liked this character's growth in this novel from the character portryed in Witchling. She really comes into her own and develops in so many ways.

She's built a relationship with Chase, a FBH (full-blooded-human), and then meets Zachary Lyonesse from the Rainier Puma Pride, and sparks fly! Again, a great mystery, lots of action, danger, and inner and outer conflicts arise as Delilah, Camille and Menolly go up against Shadow Wing's henchmen, some evil were-spiders, and their own desires. Smoky makes another intriguing appearance as do so many of the awesome characters from Witchling. Delilah has an encounter with The Autumn Lord which leaves her changed and with even more potential.

These books are just simply amazing in my opinion, and I am extremely grateful that I had the next book, Darkling, to pick up and read immediately after finishing Changeling!
